Bringing Dumplings Together

Image
Yesterday I hosted a food party with the theme: Dumplings around the World. The definition of dumpling was loose: any filling wrapped in carbs was fair game: ravioli, tamales... even pop tarts! We still have the usual suspects though: The format was a bit different to a potluck: if you wanted to, you could demo or teach something related to the dumplings or food you were bringing. It was tons of fun and I'm very grateful to the presenters. I like bringing people together and I hope I get a chance to continue doing this within my community.  I'm very happy to have people in my life that are down for ideas like these, it's really precious!

Sharing Knowledge

Image
Today I was reminded of what I could argue are my most prevalent contributions to the world during college: My Unity Tutorials in Spanish And my Medium article on Fourier Transforms These continue to receive views, engage in conversation and give me random notifications like the one above. Feeling grateful for how these things that I worked in more than 2 years ago still reverberate in others. These also came up on the tail end of my college degree. College is an environment that inspired me to share knowledge, and I miss it. While I don't entertain the possibility of going back, I do wish to find a new venue for sharing someday in the future. Cheers

I've long wanted to find a place past the fringes of social media to share my art (both civilian and otherwise) to friends and family. I'm hoping to use this space to keep people up with what feels right to share. Who am I? My name is Luis, and since I was small I've explored ways to express myself while bringing community together. Since making my own video games in secondary school to working within outreach for the Latin American community across tech companies, community and creativity come to my mind. I'm proud to be Mexican and queer, and most of my creative work is speckled by these fundamental parts of my identity. My main work consists but is not limited to visual art (illustration and photography), movement (dance and aerial arts) and sound (piano and vocals). Everyday art includes cooking, baking and fashion. I want to keep my culture alive. I'm glad you're reading this and I hope I'm able to bring something new, if anything, into your life. Peace
